Wellbeing
At Shakespeare Junior School, we value the wellbeing and mental health of all our students.
As a school, we use the 'myHappymind' programme. This programme was created for schools with a very simple mission: to give today’s children the skills to thrive in tomorrow’s world. During these wellbeing sessions, our pupils are given the preventative strategies, skills and tools they need to thrive in the modern world.
'Wellbeing' is taught weekly, in blocks of 20/30 minute sessions. Each session offers all pupils the chance to listen, discuss and reflect on ways in which we can all become more emotionally confident and better equipped in utalising strategies to support our own and others' wellbeing.
Alongside using the myHappymind programme, children are also given the opportunity to take part in the 'golden' mile, go for sensory walks and discuss/reflect on issues that are relevant for that individual class at that given time, e.g. how to manage friendship issues, handling strong emotions in a healthy way and reflecting on our positive attributes individually and as a class.
