Reading poetry aloud task.

When reading poetry aloud, it is really important to make you performance engaging for your audience. Watch this video of Michael Rosen's top tips for performing poetry. Then have a look at him reading two poems: The Jabberwocky by Lewis Caroll and his own poem The Hollywood. Make notes on how he engages the audience and think about how you might use these techniques when you have a go.

Your task

 

You need to chose a poem to perform. Think carefully about your choice! If you're stuck for ideas, there are some below which you can use. 

 

Think carefully about how you use the volume, tone and pace of your voice. Try to use facial expressions and body language to add even more to your performance. Take time to rehearse your poem before your final performance. We would love to see your performances so please send videos to your teacher!
